Hello! I’m Anton du Preez, a composer/singer/songwriter in Seattle. I am a regular performer and recording artist for soundtracks, and compose and produce for various projects in Washington and California. I have many compositions available in commercial music libraries, and have released three singer-songwriter albums, the most recent in May 2017, “Be Bold.”
In 2018, I earned my Master of Music in Film Composition, studying with two-time Emmy Award winning composer Hummie Mann at the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring in the Seattle Film Institute. There, I composed, orchestrated, and conducted original music for 9 student films, and was also the go-to composer to help finish scores in a time crunch.
I was honored to be a featured soloist with the Seattle Symphony for their 2017 Celebrate Asia concert, and am a member of the Seattle Symphony Chorale. Some of my most fun work has been as a Sessions artist for commercial music and soundtracks with credits including Destiny, Diablo, Lord of the Rings, and World of Warcraft.
I have been singing since I took my first breath, embraced the trumpet and piano when I was 6 years old, and later picked up guitar. I honed my formal training at Nebraska Wesleyan University with a primary focus on vocal performance, as well as trumpet, piano, and composition, publishing/performing several original pieces for brass quintet, chorale, and pop ensembles.
After college, I served as a musician in the United Stated Navy as the Pacific Fleet Band’s lead vocalist/entertainer. One of the biggest highlights was performing for a crowd exceeding 10,000 people on the streets of Ambon, Indonesia. I also played other instruments as needed, while composing originals and arranging/orchestrating charts for each ensemble.
My greatest joy in life is sharing and experiencing music. Its ability to simultaneously convey and elicit emotion to enhance the experience of life and film, and to express complex feelings with the vast array of tiny nuances or grandiose breadth that words alone can never express. I hope to share this experience with you!
